MINIMON - miniature monument

MINIMON began as a way to explore small-scale architectural designs, accessible to everyone. Created by Aidan Doyle, these mini monuments range from 3 to 8 inches tall- small enough to fit on any shelf or tabletop. MINIMON combines architectural themes that are both ancient and futuristic. The sculptures are meant to blend the literal- like an arch, or a column- with the imaginary, to create a unique concrete artifact. Every piece is crafted by hand inside an Ohio studio.

Each design starts with a sketch. These sketches are refined digitally to produce a 3d shape that can be cast in concrete. The designs balance aesthetic goals with the practical limits of concrete casting and curing. The natural irregularity of concrete curing (tiny marks, bubbles, and coloration) mean that each cast is truly unique.

Aidan was born in Galway, Ireland, and has spent his life practicing architecture. He received a Master of Architecture from Yale University and lives in Ohio with his wife and children.
